The Mexican rock group Hilo Negro will open the performances with an acoustic set featuring special arrangements to prepare the audience for Johnny Indovina. On the same day, Saturday, November 29th, at 9:00 PM, Jazzorca (located at Municipio Libre 37-A, Portales) will host the presentation of the black volume of the album 'Todos queremos paz' ('We All Want Peace') by composer and clarinetist Daniel Paz. This event will feature the author himself, as well as Santiago Von on alto saxophone, Silvestre Villarruel on piano, Rodo Ocampo on drums, and Alejandro Martínez on double bass, with compositions in the jazz genre. During his solo 'Story Teller Tour', Indovina, accompanied by his guitar, will perform his songs that reflect the human condition, love, and life. Besides the shows, he will hold an autograph session on Saturday, November 29th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Terraza Bizarro (Roma neighborhood, Yucatan 10), and also after each performance. The group will continue on Saturday, November 29th, at the Irapuato Jazz Festival and conclude the tour on December 1st at Baja Joe's in La Paz, Baja California. Admission is free, and a percentage of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the UNAM Foundation Scholarship Fund to contribute to strengthening education in Mexico. Musician, composer, leader, and vocalist of the gothic rock band Human Drama, Johnny Indovina, is in Mexico to present some of his greatest hits achieved during 40 years of his musical career. He will also perform 'Boogaloo', 'No News Jus’ the Blues' with The James Bolden Blues Band, 'La mujer que canta blues', and his most recent 'Automarginados', which addresses the current situation of migrants in the United States. Mexican singer and saxophonist Evelyn Rubio, based in Houston, Texas, returns to Mexico to perform at the Postal Culture Museum. She is an important exponent of blues who enjoys great prestige in Texas, and whose career began in her childhood in Mexico City. Throughout her career, she has traveled to other countries and has positioned herself as 'the woman who sings blues in Spanish,' though she easily and naturally switches the language of her performances to English and also adorns her interpretations with the sensual sound of the saxophone. She currently has a discography featuring 'Perfect', 'Crossing borders', 'Hombres' (in both English and Spanish) with Calvin Owens' Blues Orchestra. This is the second album of the 'Todos queremos paz' project, whose first material, the 'Green Volume', was presented in September and includes songs framed in reggae/jazz, according to the inspiration of its author. It is worth mentioning that on Thursday, December 8th, Daniel Paz will present both proposals, the Green Volume and the Black Volume, at Jazzatlán Capital, which will also be an excellent opportunity to enjoy these materials that address jazz and reggae in a fresh and innovative style from young Mexican musical talents. To close the lineup, there will be more blues, but this time at the Parker & Lenox forum (Juárez neighborhood, CDMX), where this Friday, November 28th, at 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM, the singer from Chicago, Sheryl Youngblood, will perform in two sets. A vocalist, drummer, and artist on the Delmark Records label, she has 40 years of musical experience, has been inducted into the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame, and is a winner of the Gospel Grammy Award, among other recognitions. She will be accompanied by the band of guitarist Emiliano Juárez, Argentine harmonica player Dai Gallo, and her colleagues Sebastián Arturo, Mark Slapy, and Tincho Amenabar, who have accompanied her on her Mexico Tour 2025, with performances already held in the cities of Zacatecas and Puebla. The band Blues Demons, from the Xochimilco district, will open her show. Admission is free, and the program includes cocoa ceremonies, coffee tastings, sensory and chocolate-making workshops, conferences, storytelling, and many more activities with around 60 exhibitors. Tickets are available at the Postal Culture Museum and can be reserved by WhatsApp at 55 1336 1466. For those who cannot attend this Saturday or want to hear her again, on Wednesday, December 3rd, she will participate in the Autumn Encounter with the CINIG’s of Earth Sciences, an event organized by the Institutes of Geology and Geophysics of UNAM, starting at 12:00 PM in the 'Ismael Herrera Revilla Tlayolotl' auditorium and the patio between the institutes of Geology and Geophysics, located on the Circuito Interior of Ciudad Universitaria, in the Coyoacán district. The 'Voices of the Earth' choir and the rock group Sótano de Hortensia will also participate. Also, if you are in the historic center of Mexico City this weekend, stop by the Christmas edition of the Café Chocolate Fest, which will be held at the Palace of Autonomy of the UNAM Foundation, this Saturday and Sunday, November 29-30, from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
